Watch for mid-70s and low-80s shares among veterans on rebuilding teams. That pattern is usually a midseason handover to a rookie, and it is the clearest advance warning that a passing game is about to change shape for everyone catching the ball.
Designed-run packages and short-yardage specialists take snaps away without taking away the job. A small dip does not mean a quarterback lost trust; a sustained slide across four weeks usually does.
