A depth chart is a map of who benefits when something goes wrong. Most in-season fantasy value is created by injury, and the player listed second is the one who inherits a starting role overnight. Knowing that list before it matters is the cheapest edge available in a league.
Treat published order as a guide rather than gospel. Official charts lag actual usage, particularly in backfields and at receiver, where the player listed second may already be out-snapping the starter. When the chart and the snap counts disagree, the snap counts are right.
