The parts of the schedule that change lineups

Most of the schedule is just kickoff times, but a few features genuinely affect fantasy outcomes and are easy to miss until they cost you a week. Short weeks are the main one: a team playing Thursday has three days to recover, and players carrying an injury are far more likely to sit or be limited than the same designation on a normal week implies.

Kickoff time also decides how much information you get. A player in an early game locks before you know anything; the same player in the late window gives you three hours of inactive reports first. When two options are close, the later kickoff is worth a small edge purely because you can react.

Scheduling quirks worth tracking

• Thursday games: short rest, more limited practice, and a higher chance a questionable player is held out.
• International kickoffs: early-morning starts and long travel. The travel effect is modest; the early lock is the real inconvenience.
• Post-bye teams: extra rest and a full week of preparation. Not a large fantasy effect, but a genuine one for players returning from injury.
• Late-window kickoffs: the most information before lineups lock, which is worth something when a decision is close.
