Jayden Daniels Is a Trap and Jahmyr Gibbs Is Going to Eat: Your Week 1 Cheat Sheet
The Smash Start Nobody's Talking About
Jaxson Smith-Njigba. Everyone's focused on the big-name QBs this week, but JSN is projecting 19.7 points against a New England defense that ranks 3rd against quarterbacks but is a completely different story against wideouts. Seattle's implied team total sits at 23, which means the offense is expected to move. He's a locked-in WR2 this week, and I'd have him in flex conversations everywhere.
The Real Smash: Gibbs Is Untouchable
Jahmyr Gibbs at 27.2 adjusted points against a Saints defense that ranks 28th against running backs. That's not a matchup. That's a gift. Detroit's implied total is 23 points, and Gibbs has the usage, the talent, and now the perfect opponent. His consistency score is 99.9. Start him first overall this week. No debate.
The Fade of the Week
Jayden Daniels. Yes, he's a name. Yes, people love him. But he draws the Eagles defense in Week 1, which ranks 1st against opposing quarterbacks. Dead last in the league in terms of favorability for fantasy QBs. His adjusted projection drops to 18.7 points, and Philadelphia is the one defense in football I would not want to be a passer against right now. If you have another viable option, use it.
Waiver Wire With Actual Legs
MarShawn Lloyd is getting added in 66,888 leagues, and it's not hype. Josh Jacobs is out with a groin injury and listed as NA, which means Lloyd walks into a primary role in Green Bay's backfield. He's projecting 10.93 points, which undersells the opportunity if he gets the full workload. Grab him now before your leaguemates put it together.
Darren Waller is also worth a pickup at 60,354 adds. He has primary role secured in Carolina, and his 8.0 projected points at TE are usable in a position where streamers are scarce.
Injury to Watch: The Chase-Higgins Situation in Cincinnati
Both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are questionable in Week 1. If either misses, Joe Burrow is still facing Tampa Bay's 29th-ranked pass defense with a projection of 25.8 points. Devaughn Vele in New Orleans is already trending hard with 139,944 adds and projects 9.83 points. If Chase or Higgins sits, watch Tee's backup targets flow to whichever Bengals receiver is available. Check the injury report Sunday morning before you lock lineups.
